ABSTRACT
O presente artigo discute uma questão relativa à atividade turística na atualidade: a depredação causada pelo turismo de massa na qual os indivíduos se relacionam com as riquezas físicas ou simbólicas do lugar enquanto mero objeto de consumo. Uma pesquisa realizada sobre a ilha do Campeche em Florianópolis junto a moradores da região que possuem histórias de vida vinculadas à mesma, recupera memórias expressivas do lugar concluindo que estas constituem subsídios para caracterização do imaginário social que constitui o lugar como singular em sua história, evitando cair na tendência do mundo globalizado em transformá-lo em um não-lugar. Tal iniciativa busca contribuir para a preservação simbólica do lugar, para a experiência do sujeito visitante e para a reflexão sobre o turismo na sociedade de consumidores.
This article discusses a question relating to tourist activity to the present: the destruction caused by mass tourism in which individuals relate to the physical and symbolic richness of the place as a consumer. A search conducted on the island of Campeche in Florianopolis, with the residents of the vicinity, and life stories that have linked to it, expressive recover memories of the place concluded that they can be excellent benefits for characterization of the island as unique in its history, preventing falls the trend of the globalized world in transforming it into a non-place. This initiative seeks to contribute to the preservation of the symbolic place for the visitor experience of the subject and to reflect on a tourism in the consumer society.
